Hey Dea! Just stopping in to see how things are going. I'm glad upping your calories seemed to do the trick. Body Pump class sounds interesting - I wish we had one out here!

Since I'm doing my own thing at home right now, I added a bunch of basic weight training to my regiment about 2 weeks ago. Stuff like squats, lunges, pushups, some tricep and bicep work. It seems to be helping as I have a lot more definition in my arms, shoulders and legs. I also started jogging outside. Only a mile a day, but I've got to start somewhere, right? Hopefully between all that and laying off the peanut butter, I'll see the scale start to move downward again soon!

Well, time to head off to work, but let me know how things are progressing for you!

Dea, just keep making all the right decisions and when your hormones are ready to get back on track -- they will.

You're doing great -- and by the way, plateaus are ways for us to take a break and think of our next strategy to make even better choices!

Called the gyn doc office today. The nurse told me i am having issues with my hormones but said the doc wants to talk to me personally about it and didnt want to call in a script till she did. I go in on Thursday next week for all of the results. The nurse did say that what she sees could be part of what is causing my slow weight loss and the ups and downs. Will see what next week brings.

I'm with you on the plateau thing, Dea. I've added a bunch of weight training and body weight exercises to my workouts, and I'm still not seeing any real results on the scale. Are you taking your measurements too? I know that taking those helps because sometimes I'll lose inches even when I'm not losing pounds - and that seems to be what I've been doing again.

Gotta go for now but keep up the good work! You're doing great and I bet you feel tons better despite your plateau!

walked at the park in the am 1 hour with daughters and friend. Walked Last night with hubby for an hour. today 50 min in the gym on the treadmill and stationary bike. This evening will get my weight work out in.

I have updated my pic today. I want to keep doing that often so i can see the positive changes happening with my body. I am now at the lowest i have been in 10 years!!! Last time I was under 225 was November 1998!!! I went to the doc with the information about joining TOPS www.tops.org and with the info I was given at the gym when i had my body comp done. We agreed on 189.0 being my goal weight for now. I will have my blood work redone at that time and bp check and we will go from there. In the last 10 years i have had my hysterectomy, and 2 other surgeries. I am going in for a hormone check on the 15th of April and make sure all of that is in check. For now this is me. Huggs Dea

Wow, Dea! Nice big loss this week! Way to go! I just started getting back in the groove of the daily grind a couple of days ago, so hopefully I'll make some progress next week.

If you make it up to my area, we can always go walk part of the Centennial Trail or there are trails just a few miles from my house. I'm hoping to do some biking on them this summer...if it ever stops snowing! LOL

It's going to be a little bit until I'm ready for another trip. LOL We just got back from Seattle yesterday. We walked all over Seattle on Monday, and then got to do a little hiking at Snoqualmie Falls and the Gingko petrified forest yesterday. Today, my husband decided was finally the time to replace the back porch stairs that we haven't used the almost two years we've lived here because they were rotting. It always feels like I need a vacation after my vacation.

Wish you didn't live so far so it would be easy to get together for walks and stuff! But I hope you get lots of donations for your March of Dimes walk!

Hi all.
Feels today like im writing from my death bed. UGG!! A bit of an update on my progress. I am in the 220's finaly. Even at the end of the night im still not seeing 230~something. I went to the doc on Tuesday and showed her the papers from when i had my weight/fat composition done. She gave me an official set goal of 189. I am 5'9" tall and according to the chart the trainer gave me at 189's I should be at 25%body fat wich for my age is a good zone to be in. Doc said when i reach that goal we will do blood work to eval my cholesterol etc. and at that time if i need to go down more we can reset that goal. Cant wait to start feeling better someday so i can get back to my work outs!!!

Dea - thanks so much for the heads up re eating, and perhaps something I need to look at. Get a bit wary about any relationship with food, and hopefully that will level itself off eventually. Perhaps I need get serious about a journal for this (looking at your notes below).

Yesterday after a fun 45 min upper body weight work out and 15 min on the bike and helping a friend of mine get her program started another one of my best girlfriends and I decided we hadnt yet finished the work out so we decided in a wind storm to hike the new trail up Badger Mt. We completed it in about 50 min give or take a few. My stop watch said 43 but we forgot about it till we had been on it a few min and unknowingly didnt catch the begining of the trail. OOPS (thank you Lisa my daughter whom i LOVE soooo much) anyway.. today went up again.. started at the trail head begining to top 2.2 miles and did it in 42 min flat. YEAH!!!!! 40 min yesterday coming down.. today 36:16 coming down.. YEAH!!! ok going to go die now.

Dea, can you tell me more about Badger Mt.?

I only live a couple hours away from you (I live near Spokane), and this spring/summer I'll be looking for places to get the family outdoors and moving around. Would Badger Mt. be a good place for a little family trail walking? Are there any other places between Spokane and there that you know about?

We've only lived in WA for about 2 1/2 years now, so I can use all the info I can get! Thanks! :)

Back to the weights today. I did my upper body work out and then cardio of 20 min on the elpitical machine. Im tired!!! Worked out hard over the week end too. Walked up Badger Mt here in Richland on Saturday. Did that in 33 min!!! YEAH!! After about a year of not doing it.. I impressed myself. It is about a 1K ft elevation gain. Huggs and on to a lighter me!!

I have been asked what I did this week to have a good loss... Here is what I changed. I got back to the basics. Journaled EVERYTHING I ate. I made my calories vary every day. Meaning.. at the end of the week I made it to my goal in calories but one day bumped it up to 1700 next day down to 1500 next down to 1300 then back up to 1500 so the body never could reach a set point. I exercised. 45 min to 1 hour a day. I had one day last week where it was no holds bar... at at bone fish grille and damn.. paid for it for 4 days. Got right back on it and away I went. So this week NO eating out.. it should be a good week. Also LOTS of water!!! NO soda a minimum of my 8 glasses a day and a bit extra because so much is lost when you sweat durring exercise. The over weight person needs 8oz of water for every extra 25 pounds of body weight. even with out exercise. I also have been back at my TOPS group and have been participating. what you put in you get back. www.tops.org Hope that helps someone. Have a GREAT week and see you lighter!!

Last night I spent quite a bit of time searching out what I have been doing and what really needs to be done. I have been Yo-Yoing now with this same 10 pounds for LONG enough. I do great durring the week and then weekends kick my butt. Then I just stuggle to get back where I was. I revamped my calorie intake to what it really should be with the exercise I have been doing. I wrote down by Calories and by item (protein starch milk fruit veg fat). I wrote it on a 3x5 card and put it on the fridge. I hope this will help with what im doing. Making it a more concious effort for what i need to do and what i am doing. I gave myself the caloric range of 1500-1600 cal day. 1600 on those days where Im really busting at the gym or daily routine... 1500 on the weekends where not much gets done just relaxing. My other really hard thing is eating on a schedule since Brian has gone to grave shift. Dinner was always at 5... now hes sleeping.. so i eat sometimes as late as 8:30ish. I need to work back into my routine of a timely eating schedule. I plan on doing this very strict this week. We will see how far it gets me on my loss goals. I also revamped that and set it for 10 pounds at a time instead of that HUGE far off goal of 62 pounds. I will take it 10 at a time and they will add up. Huggs. Heres to looking great in 08!!!

First time ever tonight I tried a YOGA class. My daughters came home from school and said they have to do yoga 4X's a week for track practice. So I had just looked at a flyer at the gym that had times for the classes. Yoga at 5:15. With MUCH MUCH resistance from them... We got into the car and headed to the gym. Barely making it into the class. NOTE TO SELF. BE on TIME!!! Grabbed our mats, blocks, straps and a towel and off we went. Anything with lunges are very hard for me. BUT I made it thru and it was VERY good!! I plan on making Weds class!! Daughters or not...

Tonight went to a friends house and we walked 33 min about mile 1/2. Had a very good eating day. Also worked out in the am at the gym.. busted butt there!!! My daughter was saying "mom your hair is dripping wet" so I know I did a great work out!! Last 20 seconds was running 5mph at a 4.5% incline!!! YEAH!!! Im back on my game!!

I don't know I hit a plateau or if I just haven't been eating healthy enough. It might be a combination of the two. I'm going to try really hard to honor my calorie restriction to combat the diet part of it. For the plateau, I'm incorporating HIIT into my workouts on the elliptical twice a week. Once I get into the 220s, I'll switch it up again do the Couch to 5k program so I can start running.

I made it to the 230's this week which was a MAJOR goal this week. Now to keep myself there this week is going to be the challenge as I will be going out of town on saturday for the day to Seattle. We are not the ones driving so kinda at the mercy of others as to where to go to eat. Even fast food places now have salads but a recent field trip with my sister grabbing nutrition fact sheets was an eye opener for us. The Mc Donalds salad is ok till you add the Chicken. CRAZY!!! Your salad goes from 100 mg of sodium to up to 900 just from the chicken. After some research.... they soak the chicken or inject it for "freshness" I dont need to be that fresh!!!! GOOD GRIEF!! ok end of rant!
I will do my best to be good tomorrow. Ive worked to hard to blow it this week just cuz of food!!!

My scale's battery decided to die, so I just used yesterday's scale reading for my official weigh-in of the week. My diet has been horrible, so I'm just happy I didn't gain any weight. I need my motivators to get on me about eating right. It's the only way I'll keep losing!

You seem to be doing well and I'm happy for you. Let's shoot for the 220s now!

Today i really increased my work out again!! I used my chart for the 20 min of cardio... starting out at a 5 on the intensity scale for 2 min.. raised it by one notch each min to reaching a 9 on the scale. Then back down to a 5 up to 9 till the 18th min then really pushed to make it to a 10.. I kept it at that 10 for an extra 5 min then my 5 min cool down.. for a total of 30 min and was soaked head to toe!!!! WAS GREAT!!!

UGG!! Turkey Coma!!! I didnt eat a lot of sweets.. more at the stuffing and the mashed potatos... I didnt cook with salt.. and very little butter.. but just the routine was off.. lack of going to do my work outs... and not a regular eating schedule.. it really kicked my butt!!! Im on it after todays weight.. I even have my sister helping me out as I try to get her on her way too. TEAM WORK!!!! LOVE IT!!

Ok this last week REALLY sucked!!! I ate everything that was NOT nailed down!! Hubby thinking ahead that if he brought in a bulk thing of licorice it would be easier than going down daily to get a goodie... NOPE!!! between my daughter and I we killed it dead!!! UGG!! It showed on todays weigh in!!! I went to the gym today and in efforts to start out the week end right.. I did my upper body weights work out... 30 min on the tread mill and 15 on the eliptical!! Now doing it all over again tomorrow. I need to shock the body again. It became to used to doing nothing last week!!! PLEASE PUSH ME THIS WEEK!!! PUSH ME TO PUSH MYSELF!!!

UGGG ever feel like youre so stuck you might never see another loss?? Going on almost 14 days and NOTHING!!! Im trying a colon cleanse product that is draining the life out of me!!! I hope this week will be better and I can get to the gym more than last week. HELP!!! Im drinking my water and staying hydrated.. Today my foot is feeling better. I made it to the gym and did a 20 min cardio on the recumbant bike. I am seeing the scale move a bit this am.. wich was very nice to see. Ive been very frustrated that I have been doing good and making sure I dont miss work outs only to see the scale stuck weekly!!! Last week I ended up at BK once :( .. not the best choice but it was surely out of frustration!! Tonight at our gym they are having an October Fest Member appreciation night. Go figure at the gym they are going to be giving ya Brats and beer!! Im not much of a beer fan so i guess a brat and a glass of wine and hit the gym again tomorrow on the day off to work it back off.. LOL Im looking forward to a good weigh in on Monday with my wlcy group and Thursday with TIOC. Huggs to you all for reading this!!

Today was a very hard day!! I didnt get to bed till about 11:30pm and woke at 4am to get to the gym. Today was upper body weights. I pushed myself thru the work out came home helped with making lunches and went back to bed!! Tonight is bedtime by 9 to get up and do cardio tomorrow.

Thank you!! I have come to realize. The more i put out there the more I get back. The efforts I give... exercise... eating right... keeping myself accountable to me or to someone else... giving encouragement or asking for some... It is keeping me involved in the choices I make. Not sure if that makes sense...

I started last January 06 with a plan that really worked for me. I lost just over 50 pounds in 5 months. I journaled every thing I ate. My work outs and was doing quite well. My son joined the Army in July 06 and I went into a bad funk. By the time I was on my way out of that I had gained back at least 20 of that. Then our summer heat hit... and well.. I had gained back 40 of the 50 I had lost!! I was on my way back down and then came down very ill with Mono in November. By January I tried at it again. Was doing fairly well but the drive was just not back yet. It was very hard to work out. I was on a roll again and down about 15 pounds or so and in May hubbys work sent us to Nashville, TN. I came home and found out I did NOT have jet lag.. Instead a second bout with mono. This time I didn’t know my name for about 2 weeks. I only got out of bed from what I understand to go to the bathroom. I had it BAD!! It has taken quite a bit more to recover this time.

20 Days ago today I started the BFL program. (Body for Life) I am down now 17 pounds!! I have noticed this time ... rather than just walking I have had added weights to my workouts. I don’t spend HOURS at the gym either!! That really led to burn outs with workouts!! I do Cardio 3X's week and Weights 3X's week. i.e.: Monday upper body (apx 45-65 min), Tues cardio (25 min), Wed Lower body, Thurs cardio, Friday upper body, Saturday Cardio (Saturdays cardio varies... Have gone on a 9 hour hike, then a 4.5 hour hike and today was just at the gym 65 min).

I am feeling really good!! Tired at night!! (That is a big one for me as I have insomnia frequently!!) I know a long post. I will be posting a new photo on Sunday next week. Oct 7th. I started a word document last year and took a new picture every 10 pounds. With this I think I will do one every 4 weeks on this 12-week program. I can look in the mirror now and see changes that are so exciting!!! Ok long post so I will log out now.

You are doing the right things! . . . and it's working! I see in BLC that you've come down again this week! Congratulations. I've been gradually loosing since July. Slow and easy. Small portions of food. Moving whenever and where ever I can. I am amazed at the progress when I pay attention to these tiny details. Keep up the good work, Lizzy!

Thank you!! I have been going to the gym daily at 5am. Monday, W, Friday weights. Tues, Thurs, Sat Cardio... and sunday.. light walk around the neighborhood or just kick back and take a day off. My clothes are fitting better now. So i know im going in the right direction.. Keeping a journal of what I eat thru the day is helping too!! Being accountable is always a bonus!! I report to a yahoo group weekly and the Biggest Loser group here on Traineo. Monday to the yahoo and Thursday here.. so it keeps me in check with my week.
